You touched on this a little bit in your previous answer, but how has your background as a clinical psychologist affected your writing? It felt very grounding and centering by the time it was done. Use your acrylic template and a double mirror to audition motifs in your fabric before cutting.
If using the Flat Back stitch, lay the pieces flat and on the back side, stitch evenly along catching fabric from the two shapes as you go. Things had to be rearranged after the fact just for the plot to make more sense and the story to be tighter.
